Who am I?
Isn’t that the question we are always asking ourselves?
In this case, I will use it as an opportunity to introduce myself! Hello!
My name is Lindsey. I am passionate about personal growth, healing, development, and our community. I have held professional certifications including; Hypnotherapist, Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), Enneagram Life Coach, Trauma Recovery, CBT, DBT, and Crisis Intervention. I have over a decade working in mental health and emergency medicine. I have experience working with trauma, PTSD, youth and adolescent behavioral skills training, mentorship, family dynamics, crisis intervention, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, in-patient therapy, self-harm, and abuse recovery.
Over the past 5 years, I have worked primarily focusing on youth and adolescent mental health coaching, working to build confidence, resilience, emotional management, and self-efficacy. During this time I have worked with over 250+ youth and adolescents as well as their families. Our children are fundamentally built to begin to push away and challenge their parents views (I know… as a Mom myself, I don’t love it either). This helps them grow and become independent. During that time, they learn from other adults, peers, and their community! Or they should…. enter major issues we have here with our youth…. THIS is my goal as a teen coach. To help step in where our society has removed mentorship from our culture, and bring it back!
In addition, I also work with adults recovering from narcissistic abuse, codependency, generational trauma, and other forms of physical/sexual/mental abuse.
I believe we are intended to live communally (not necessarily in the “Commune” sense of the word… but you do you!). In essence, I believe the phrase “it takes a village” extends into every avenue and chapter of our lives. We were designed to be in relationship with one another. The unfortunate truth is that our sociocultural nuances are directly opposed to what is natural and beneficial. Throughout life we struggle with our ideal self and our actual self; our ego becomes the ultimate defense in coping and simply SURVIVING life.
We were never intended to simply survive and we were never intended to do it alone. What a miserable existence that is! I mean, come on, we have all been there, right?! My goal and mission is to encourage you on YOUR OWN personal journey to finding freedom and serenity in your own skin. Yes, you are in control of your own journey!
But, you’re thinking… “You don’t understand everything I have been through” or “I am sick of trying when no one else is” or best yet “I’ve tried every kind of therapy and none of it is useful!”
You’re not wrong! There is valuable wisdom all around us, but the challenge is putting it together in a way that allows us to process it efficiently and in “real” life. This requires that we each walk through our own survival skills (coping mechanisms) and understand why we are the way we are. That is my mission, to walk alongside you and encourage you to wake-up and introduce yourself to….yourself!
